Call for Photos

Robert Floyd Photo Gallery invites you to enter your photos in the 2013 Art in the Orchard, Easthampton, MA Photo Contest.  

This photo competition is open to the public. Good luck!

Contest guidelines...

* Visit the Park Hill Orchard, 82 Park Hill Rd Easthampton, MA 01027 (413) 303-0335 and have fun capturing photos with any camera: film, digital, cell phone, etc.

* All photos entered must be captured/ created in August thru September, 2013.

* Images may be tweaked in Photoshop with common adjustments yet without image manipulation, i.e., no removing of adding subject matter.

* Capture all that you experience in the Orchard: performers, visitors, the Orchard, the animals, sculptures, critters, landscapes, events. Your images need to show the spirit of Art in the Orchard. They can have impact, tell a story, document an event, show peopie using the Orchard, and/or capturing creative scenes with/of the sculptures themselves.

 * Each photo must be must be 8"X10" or larger and wired to hang on our Gallery walls. We accept matted/ framed photos (with glass) or mounted canvas photos (without glass.) Outside dimensions of frame no larger than 11" X 17".

* All photos will be juried for the exhibit. Once the accepted photos are hung, they will immediately be judged for awards/ prizes.

* Everybody can enter up to 4 images. Presentation fee is only $10 per image. Deliver your mounted/ framed photos  to The Gallery on SEP 28 or SEP 29, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm; or SEP 30, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm; or OCT 1,  10:00 am - Noon. 

* We will exhibit 36 contest photos at The Gallery in October.

* We are pleased to offer these Awards:

Best in Show receives $250 bank check. 

First Place receives $125 bank check. 

Second Place receives $75 bank check.   

Gallery one-on-one photo critique session (60 minutes) for photo demonstrating best use of the Orchard by people.

We have extended our community photo contest exhibit deadline until 5:30 pm, Tuesday, OCT 8. Thank you all who have and will participate this year. Last Friday during a five hour photo workshop on Manhattan's High Line, was reminded of my film camera years being the official photographer for the 

NYC Special Olympics. Those athletes taught me, it's not about win or lose, it's about joining in and participating. Their joy was so intoxicating to me. Yes, there is a need to honor and we award as Special Olympics award. Believe me, my gratitude is powerfull to those who let go of themselves, grab their cameras, and share their vision with all of us. Bravo...

   Yes, stayed away not to influence anybody more than anybody else at the orchard in public's eye. Looking forward to leading a few photo workshops there shortly. Will demonstrate how to differentiate between what we think we observe and what we need to clearly observe in order to know how to capture an image.
