Derek Allard
Derek has had a love of birds since youth when Evening Grosbeaks regularly visited a bird feeder he made with his father and setup in the back yard. He started making photos as a way to better identify birds that he couldn’t easily identify. Over time this has evolved with more photography training and more of a focus on capturing a high quality and well thought out bird image. His photos have appeared regularly in the Daily Hampshire Gazette and have been used by Mass Audubon for mailings and social media promotion. This is his first photography exhibition and he would like to thank Robert Floyd for much steering to get to this point. Teamwork.
Melissa Incampo
Melissa has honed her creative skills by her passion for people and capturing their energy in the community. Managing the Yancey Richardson Art Gallery in Manhattan has sensitized her ability to see behind the facade. Renewal, Growth, Community, Connection, Exploration, and Leisure are themes often seen in her artwork. "Sarah, New Mexico" continues to be Robert Floyd's favorite image. Her camera freezes moments in time that speak to us forever and move us in unexpected ways. Melissa's goal is to build collaborative relationships with the creative arts community and continue to share her connection to the Pioneer Valley that is refreshingly raw.
Lisa Quiñones
Traveling through the Balkans I expected to find a world of differences. Instead I was struck by the similarities - a shared footprint of history left behind by Roman and then Ottoman rule. I found a thread tying the region together in the ancient ruins, stone fortresses, similarities in food and drink, religious mix, and unfortunately the continued rumblings of territorial disputes. In each country I found, beyond the seemingly stern exterior, warm people, passionate feelings, and a striking rugged beauty in the mountains, coasts, rural villages and ancient cities that make up this distinctive part of the world. I particularly enjoyed the colorful ways people use their free time in these unique surroundings.
